Kate follows the bleeding Naomi into the jungle where she allows the freighter to locate their signal exactly. Desmond returns to tell the survivors what Charlie told him; that Naomi lied to them. The survivors all meet by the wreckage of the cockpit and Locke and Jack represent rival factions. One half follow Locke back to the barracks while the rest stay with Jack and Kate to await rescue.

Sayid exchanges Charlotte for Miles and Kate stays with Sawyer. Sayid, Desmond and Naomi’s corpse all head back to the freighter on the helicopter with Frank.

Kate goes to Sawyer who helps con Locke into setting up the meeting. Miles says he will lie to his employers about Ben’s whereabouts for 3.2 million dollars. Locke banishes Kate from the Barracks. On the beach Daniel is frustrated by his apparently bad memory and when Charlotte calls the boat, they say the helicopter has not arrived.

As Frank follows the coordinates that Daniel gave him to get back to the boat, Desmond freaks out and doesn’t seem to know where he is. The freighter crew take Desmond to their sick bay where he meets George Minkowski who seems to be suffering the same problems. Sayid calls Jack and Daniel directs Desmond how to proceed. Desmond calls Penny who answers and he recovers while George dies.

Daniel and Charlotte secretly head to the Dharma station “The Tempest.” They knock out Kate on their way. Juliet and Jack are in hot pursuit when Harper, the Others’ therapist tells Juliet that Ben wants her to kill Daniel and Charlotte. At “The Tempest” Juliet and Charlotte fight as Daniel succeeds in rendering potentially poisonous gas inert. Meanwhile Ben shows John a video of Charles Widmore and claims he owns the freighter. John makes a deal with Ben and lets him out of his prison.

Sun decides to go to Locke’s camp because she doesn’t trust the people from the freighter. Juliet tries to stop her and resorts to revealing to Jin that Sun cheated on him and thought the baby might not be his. Jin forgives her and they decide to stay. On the freighter Sayid and Desmond meet Captain Gault who tells them that he gets his orders from Charles Widmore. He also tells them that Ben staged the 815 crash and that is one of the reasons they are trying to capture him. Then they meet the cleaner Kevin Johnson, or as we know him Michael.

Locke gets Ben and Miles to explain the situation to the camp. Ben says that after they take him their orders are to kill everyone on the island. On the freighter Sayid asks Michael to explain how he got on the freighter. When he does, Sayid drags him to the captain and outs him as the saboteur. Ben sends Danielle, Alex and Karl to join the Others at the temple. On their way they are shot at and with Karl and Rousseau hit Alex gives herself up as Ben’s daughter.

Jack has a “stomach bug” which is getting worse. The doctor from the freighter is washed up on the beach with his throat slit. Daniel manages to send morse code to ask what happened. The reply comes that he is fine and Daniel lies about it. Bernard knows the truth though and Daniel is forced to admit that they never intended to rescue the survivors. The soldiers from the freighter kill Alex when Ben refuses to cooperate. He alerts the smoke monster which comes in to the barracks to attack the soldiers. Sawyer takes Claire and Miles back to the beach while Ben and Locke insist that Hurley stay because he knows where Jacob’s cabin is.

Jack needs to have his appendix removed. Sun, Jin, Daniel and Charlotte head to the Dharma medical station to get surgical equipment. Jin realises that Charlotte understands Korean and tells her he will hurt Daniel unless she agrees to take Sun off the island. Jack insists that Kate help with the operation and that he wants to guide Juliet through it. But the pain is too much for him and Bernard sedates him with chloroform. Juliet tells Kate that despite their kiss she knows Jack is in love with Kate. Miles comes across the buried corpses of Rousseau and Karl. Then he, Sawyer, Claire and Aaron have to hide from the retreating Keamy and his remaining men. During the night Christian Shepherd appears and Claire leaves with him. Sawyer finds Aaron abandoned by a tree.

Locke has a dream about Horace Goodspeed which leads him to Jacob’s cabin. He finds Christian Shepherd and Claire inside and they tell him that he must move the island in order to save it. Meanwhile Keamy returns to the freighter to gather more weapons to kill everyone on the island. He takes a “second protocol” from a safe which tells him what Ben will do next. He kills the doctor and the captain in order to get his way and force Frank to fly them back. Frank drops a phone to the survivors at the beach to help them locate him. Sayid leaves the freighter in a boat to go and start taking people off the island while Desmond stays behind.

Jack and Kate set off in search of the chopper. They run into Miles and Sawyer. Kate takes Aaron back to the beach while Jack and Sawyer continue on. They find Frank who offers to fly them away but they go off to rescue Hurley. At the beach Sayid arrives with the boat but heads off to save Jack with Kate. Daniel realises that the island may be about to be moved and begins ferrying people to the freighter. That includes Sun and Jin who take Aaron and are reunited with Michael. He and Desmond discover a huge amount of explosives on the boat connected to devices sending out a signal. Ben tells Locke how to enter the Orchid station while he hands himself over to Keamy.

Jack and Sawyer find Hurley and Locke. Locke asks Jack to stay on the island but he refuses. Locke asks him to lie about the island if he gets home in order to protect it. Kate, Sayid and the Others kill Keamy’s men. Ben returns to the Orchid and he and Locke descend to the station. Locke watches the orientation video which shows a rabbit being sent into the future. Keamy survived the earlier attack and now arrives in the Orchid. He warns Ben of the dead-man’s trigger he is wearing but Ben stabs him to death anyway. On the freighter Desmond, Michael and Jin try to find ways of preventing the bomb from going off. On the island Miles tells Daniel he will be staying on the island and Charlotte stays too after hinting that she may have been born on the island. Frank flies the survivors back to the freighter but the chopper is leaking fuel. Sawyer tells Kate something and then jumps into the sea in order for the chopper to carry less weight.

Keamy dies and Michael remains to use up the last of the liquid nitrogen on the bomb. The chopper lands on the freighter as Desmond yells at them that the bomb is about to explode. Frank hastily patches up the holes and refuels. The Oceanic Six, Desmond and Frank take off as Jin rushes on to the deck. Christian appears and tells Michael he can go now. The freighter explodes much to the mourning of those in the chopper and Juliet and Sawyer on the beach. Ben blows a whole in the chamber in the Orchid station. Locke goes to join the Others as Richard says “welcome home.” Ben heads through the hole and down a passage deep underground. There he pushes a “frozen donkey wheel” which moves the island and means he can never come back. The sky turns white and the island disappears leaving the chopper over the empty sea. The eight survivors make it to the life raft and are rescued by Penny’s boat. Desmond and Penny embrace and Jack tells everyone that they must lie to protect themselves and those on the island. A week later and the Oceanic Six head out to the island of Membato. Michael
