Episode 8 - No One

26 June 2016

If that's really it for Arya's time in Braavos then what a horrendous anticlimax. We got one montage showing us that she could fight well while blind. That's it. That's not nearly enough to convince us that a wounded Arya could beat the Waif in the dark.

And then for Jaqen to just smile and let her go after all that investment? That totally undermines the faceless men as a religious order. What a waste of time.

The siege of Riverrun was similarly disappointing but I'm more confused about where Jaime's character is going. His commitment to Cersei does not justify the horrible things he threatened to do. Why should we care about this unrepentant man?

Has anyone told Tommen that if his mum if found guilty then he won't be King anymore?

  • I just can't take your ratings seriously when you have this episode rated as 20 points below an average episode of Dollhouse. Kinda ridiculous.

  • I'll agree that the Arya stuff is genuinely awful but I took Jaime's threats as empty. I think we were supposed to believe that Jaime was using her reputation as the Kingslayer and an overall terrible person to convince Edmure to turn over the castle without any bloodshed.

I mean it's not great because Edmure could have totally called his bluff and then I think Jaime would have done what he said anyway but it's teensy bit far to say he's unrepentant. At the end of the day, I don't think he wanted to kill all those people anymore than Edmure. If the scene was supposed to be Jaime truly meaning what he was saying than it is terribly written and directed scene because the Jaime in that tent is not the Jaime who lets Brienne live at the same episode. It's not the same Jaime that we've been watching since season 3 either.
