The Office

The Office is a comedy set in a paper sales company Dunder Mifflin. Shot in a mockumentary style the show follows the exploits of regional manager Michael Scott whose excruciating behaviour can make life difficult for his fellow employees. NBC 2005-???

Michael runs over over Meredith with his car, cracking her pelvis. He takes all the office staff to see her. While Angela goes with them she asks Dwight to go and feed her cat Sprinkles who is old and ill. He euthanises her much to Angela’s dismay. Michael desperately tries to find a way be liked again and seizes upon Meredith being treated for rabies in hospital (see 316). He organises a charity fun run to raise money to fight rabies. Jim and Pam “come out” as a couple, at least to the camera crew. A double length episode.

Ryan returns to Scranton having taken Jan’s old job. He brings new blackberries for the office and announces the launch of the new Dunder Mifflin website which will change the way they do business. Jim and Pam “come out” as a couple to the office while Angela tells Dwight that it is finally over between them. Michael decides to try and win back old clients using gift baskets to show that the old ways still work. A double length episode.

Ryan launches Dunder Mifflin Infinity with an online party linking all the branch offices to the main party in New York. When Michael realises he wasn’t invited to the main party he sulks and ends up taking a pizza delivery boy hostage. Dwight attempts to sell more paper than the website and Jim and Pam play a prank on him by trying to convince him that the website has artificial intelligence. Angela tries to show Dwight that she has moved on by asking Pam to set her up with a man. Andy hears this and begins trying to woo her.

Jan is spending so much of Michael’s money that he has taken a second job just to get by. There he is struggling to succeed as a salesman because he wastes time using his famed “personal skills.” Dwight is offering a bed and breakfast service on his beet farm and so Pam and Jim decide to spend the night. Ryan comes to the office to instruct everyone how to use power point and has to witness Kelly playing games with Darryl. Michael asks Oscar for help with his money troubles. Angela agrees to go out with Andy much to Dwight’s heart break. Jan comes to Michael and says he stood by her and so she will stand by him.

Dunder Mifflin buys ad time to promote their new website. Each branch is allowed to add a little flavour to the spots which run in their market. Michael is having none of this and decides to make his own advert. Andy keeps telling Dwight about his relationship with Angela. Dwight is still miserable about losing her and so retreats into playing “Second Life.”

Stanley announces that he is leaving for the Utica branch of Dunder Mifflin where Karen Filippelli is boss. Michael and Dwight deceive Jim into going to Utica to play a prank on them. Pam, Toby and Oscar try to enjoy their “Fine Things Club” but people keep wondering into the common area and disturbing them.

Ryan took several of the branch managers and Toby on a wilderness retreat and didn’t invite Michael. Embittered he gets Dwight to take him out into the wilderness with just a roll of duct tape, a knife and a video camera so he can simulate a show called “Survivor Man.” In charge back at the office, Jim decides to combine all the birthdays into one party rather than having separate ones for each member of the office. He soon discovers that the idea is not popular and he has to withdraw the idea.

Michael is testifying at his deposition in Jan’s wrongful termination lawsuit. During cross examination the issue of when his relationship with Jan actually started comes up. The photo of them in Jamaica and his diary are both entered as exhibits. In the end he testifies in favour of the company. Back at the office there is a ping pong table in the warehouse. Jim has been losing to Darryl and Kelly talks smack to Pam about it. So Pam organises practise for Jim so that he can beat Darryl and defend her honour.

Jim tells Pam he is going to propose to her.

Dunder Mifflin Infinity, the company website is struggling. Sales people aren’t using it and the social network feature was used by sexual predators. Ryan wants the Scranton branch to come to work on a Saturday in order to enter their sales into the website to help legitimise it. Michael and Dwight head to New York to go clubbing with Ryan. Meanwhile Jim gets the office to stay late to get the work done so that they don’t have to come to work the next day. Unfortunately he doesn’t tell the security guard who locks up for the night. While waiting Toby embarrasses himself by showing his feelings for Pam and runs away. In New York Ryan and his friend Troy take Michael and Dwight to clubs to meet women. Ryan is on drugs and becomes increasingly agitated. Michael struggles to pick up women while Dwight picks one up but doesn’t want her. Ryan gets thrown out and so they take him back to his apartment.

During a meeting Michael tries to get Stanley to join in because he was as usual ignoring him. Stanley refuses to cooperate and ends up yelling “Did I stutter?” Michael is upset and only agreed to confront Stanley after being urged to by Toby. He does confront him and Stanley accepts he should not speak to his boss like that. Meanwhile Ryan swings by to warn Jim about his job performance. Jim thinks it is a retaliation because Jim is not in favour of Ryan’s website. Dwight buys a car from Andy and then sells it on for more money. He does it to spite him because he seems happy with Angela.

Michael, Pam, Darren and Oscar head to a job fair at Valley View High School to find a summer intern. It is Pam’s old school and she knows her way around. Michael looks down his nose at the one kid who is interested and then later begs him to come back. Meanwhile Jim, Andy and Kevin play golf with one of Jim’s old clients. Because Ryan warned Jim about his performance and his impending marriage to Pam, Jim decides to actually try and win Mr McGuire’s business back.

Though initially hostile, Michael quickly falls for her and Jim steps in to prevent him from going after her too quickly. Phyllis takes over from Angela in organising a huge party for Toby. Dwight attempts to haze Holly but only succeeds when convincing her that Kevin is mentally slow. Ryan is arrested for fraud after attempting to record sales twice in order to make his website look successful. At the party Jim plans to propose to Pam but Andy proposes to Angela first. She says yes but later is found by Phyllis fooling around with Dwight. Finally Michael discovers that Jan is pregnant from a sperm donor but agrees to go to lamas class with her.
