The Office

The Office is a comedy set in a paper sales company Dunder Mifflin. Shot in a mockumentary style the show follows the exploits of regional manager Michael Scott whose excruciating behaviour can make life difficult for his fellow employees. NBC 2005-???

Michael is still being friends with Holly even though he wants to ask her out. A forty minute long single episode.

In the course of an open discussion Meredith admits that she sleeps with a supplier in order to get a discount. Holly wants to report it to corporate and Michael wants to sweep it under the rug. When they call corporate, Kendall, the corporate HR rep decides that they need the discount more than they need to punish Meredith.

Finally Angela asks Andy to find a particular location for their wedding and the only place which can work is Schrute farms.

When he doesn’t get the support he would like from the rest of the office he drags her to a rehab clinic himself.

Andy and Dwight agree to a duel in the parking lot. Angela agrees to be with the winner. Andy runs Dwight into the hedge with his car but they soon realise that Angela has treated them both very poorly. She ends up losing them both.

The family are so kind that they hand over their entire client list to Michael and then help him fix his car when he damages it. Michael feels too guilty about hurting the family and so wants to destroy the client list but Dwight forces him to hand over the information to David Wallace. The rest of the office engage in an increasingly heated debate about whether or not Hilary Swank is hot.

Dwight starts a small fire and locks everyone in the office to test their fire safety awareness. Panic soon sets in with people smashing in doors, windows and the ceiling. Stanley has a heart attack from the scare. Michael and Dwight are summoned to see David Wallace and reprimanded. Michael brings in a CPR instructor to help the office be more prepared. But Dwight thinks he should be teaching this and decides to show everyone how to harvest organs from the corpse of the CPR dummy. Once more summoned to the Corporate office, Michael now realises he needs to reduce the stress levels in the office. Soon it becomes apparent that he causes the stress and so he suggests a comedy roast to reduce the tension. After everyone in the office and warehouse insults him he leaves in tears and takes a personal day. When he returns he manages to make Stanley laugh and everyone decides to forgive and forget. Meanwhile Pam’s parents are separating and she asks Jim to talk to her Dad. When Jim tells him how much he loves Pam, her father leaves her mother because he has never felt like that. Andy mistakes their conversations for commentary on a movie he watched with them starring Jack Black and Jessica Alba.

David Wallace asks Michael to visit the other branches and share his sales secrets success. Pam goes along as his driver and assistant. First stop is Utica which is Karen Filippelli’s branch. Michael’s lecture is not well received. Karen is married and pregnant and Pam is pleased to get closure on their former love triangle with Jim. Michael decides that he wants closure with Holly. Back at the office we learn that after Phyllis blackmailed Angela, Michael made Jim and Dwight joint heads of the party planning committee. They are equally annoyed about this and manage to forget Kelly’s birthday. Andy tries to hit on one of Stanley’s clients and manages to lose the account.

Upon arriving in Nashua Michael learns that Holly isn’t there but her new boyfriend Ajay is. Pam encourages him to go on with his lecture but he uses it as an excuse to grill Ajay. Then he steals a file from Holly’s computer which says “Dear Michael.” Pam reads it for him and tells him that she still has feelings for him. Back at the office Jim and Dwight continue to argue over Kelley’s party. They finally offer her an hour of television or an hour long knap and she is satisfied with that. Angela sets up a nanny cam for her cats and then Oscar and Kevin end up seeing her licking them clean.

Michael decides to mimic Willy Wonka and the Chocolate Factory and put Golden tickets in random paper shipments. The company who finds them will get 10% off their paper for a year. When Blue Cross find all five tickets in their shipment, Michael’s mistake looks set to cost the company and Jim a lot of money. Michael tries to convince Dwight to take the blame for him. When David Wallace arrives he tells them that Blue Cross were so happy that they have made Dunder Miflin their sole office supply company. Dwight takes the credit but Michael eventually tells the truth. Meanwhile Kevin asks Lyn out after ignoring conflicting advice from Jim, Pam and Andy.

Michael’s 15th anniversary with Dunder Miflin is coming up and he is planning a big party. Charles Miner the new VP for the North East Region arrives to talk tough economic times. Michael is suitably disturbed by Charles’ professionalism and begins to act childishly. When he can’t reach David Wallace he drives to New York to complain about Miner. David offers to pay for his party but Michael quits. Back in the office Kelly and Angela fight over Charles’ attention and Jim ends up looking deeply unprofessional.

But he returns crawling around the office begging everyone to come with him. Pam spends the whole day working out how the new photocopier works. Jim gets insecure and claims he can play. Dwight sets up a match to expose Jim and Phyllis ends up getting struck in the face.

The luncheon attracts very few customers but does lead to one sale which invigorates them all. Upstairs at Dunder Mifflin Dwight and Andy bond despite both vying for the affection of the new receptionist Erin. Charles asks Jim for a rundown of all his clients and Jim doesn’t want to admit he doesn’t know what that means.

Back at the office Jim decides to mess with Andy and encourage him to get over his breakup with Angela.

Their accountant tells them that although they have won over clients with their cheap prices, they will eventually go broke. David Wallace arrives to meet with Charles, Jim and Dwight to discuss their options over getting their clients back. Dwight begins to reveal his true colours to Charles and Jim is sent to offer Michael a buy out. Jim manages to hide the information that MSPC are broke and Michael demands that he, Ryan and Pam get rehired by Dunder Mifflin. Then he asks for Charles to leave too.

Michael sees that he was wrong and has to choose one of them to keep on in sales. Meanwhile it is casual Friday and Toby struggles to deal with the inappropriate choices people make.

Michael is using the former Michael Scott Paper Company office to drink espresso, have a dance and relax. When no one will have lunch with him, he concludes that Charles made them all focus too hard on work. So he invites them all to come to his cafe disco. He entices them by playing dance music loudly and it works as Phyllis joins him. She hurts her back though and Dwight takes her to the conference room to massage her. While he uses methods he learnt on horses, she confesses to being worried about Bob’s secretary. Meanwhile Erin and Kelly begin dancing and soon everyone congregates in the Cafe Disco much to Michael’s delight. Jim and Pam had decided to elope but seeing the ensuing cheesy fun, they decide that they would like a wedding after all. Andy and Kelly impress everyone as they have an impromptu dance-off.

It’s the Dunder Mifflin company picnic. Michael heads off with Holly to work on their sketch about the history of the company with a plan to tell her why she should get back together with him. Dwight rallies the Scranton branch to play well in the inter-branch volleyball match. He is aided by Jim and particularly Pam who it turns out has played a lot. Michael and Holly’s sketch Slumdunder Mifflinaire is a disaster including the revelation that the Buffalo branch is going to close. Pam injures her ankle in the final match between the New York branch and Scranton. Jim rushes her to the hospital while Dwight tries to stall things. At the hospital they discover that Pam is pregnant.
