Episode 12 - Ann's Decision

10 February 2013

The main story here foundered on the fact that Ann has never become a real character. We have almost no reason to care about her desire to be a mother and the abrupt way it was introduced into the plot didn't help. It seemed inevitable that she wouldn't find a suitable sperm donor and so Leslie's flailing felt tired and unnecessary.

The rest of the episode was filled with typical Parks problems. The exaggerated reactions to the food poisoning were totally unconvincing and you had to wonder why any of them had bothered to come into work if they were that ill. Chris' search for a caterer was a very thin plot with a simplistic happy ending.

The town meetings are always a drag, filled with predictable silly interruptions from caricatures. The fact that we saw another side of the Douche felt like an attempt to suggest that all crazy Pawnee residents have a normal side once you get to know them but it's a bit late to suggest that.

I did laugh at Andy thinking April looked hot in any outfit and concluding that "Honestly, you'd look hot naked." Otherwise this was a by the numbers effort.
