Episode 24 - TOW Rachel Finds Out

29 March 2012

Synopsis: Ross goes to China for work and while away Chandler accidentally lets it slip that he is in love with Rachel. After thinking about it she decides to go to the airport to meet him when he returns and start something up. Meanwhile Joey is participating in a fertility study and can’t conduct any “personal experiments” during the study. But his new girlfriend wants to have sex and he ends up impressing her by being so giving.

The Good: Rachel finding out just as Ross gets a new girlfriend plays out nicely and sets up season two very well. Rachel being convinced by an imaginary Ross is a creative way to see her thoughts. Monica’s excitable reaction to the situation is a great demonstration of how the relationship will affect the group. Chandler is funny as ever, bitingly sarcastic until he has to back peddle furiously after revealing the secret. Joey’s story is fun and has an interesting conclusion where he essentially admits his selfishness. But he is funny throughout, constantly saying reasonable things, from his point of view which are funny to both the other characters and the audience. There are also loads of nice jokes thrown in for good measure like the caveman impressions, Phoebe playing with Ross’ picture and the mistaken message at the airport.

The Bad: Nothing much wrong here.

Best Line:
(M) “I can’t believe he did this.”
(C) “Oh come on, Ross, remember back in college when he fell in love with Carol and bought her that ridiculously expense crystal duck.”
(Ra) “What did you say”
(C) “(long pause) Crystal duck.”
(Ra) “No, no, no, the love part.”
(C) “fck, flenin.”
(Ra) “Oh my god.”
(C) “Oh no no no no.”
(J) “That’s good, just keep rubbing your head. That’ll turn back time.”

Best Friend: Joey
