Episode 14 - TOW Everybody Finds Out

29 March 2012

Synopsis: “Ugly Naked Guy” is moving out and Ross wants to get his apartment. While looking round with Phoebe, she sees Monica and Chandler fooling around. Now that she and Rachel both know, they decide to mess with Monica and Chandler. But when they realise what is going on they decide to play as well.

The Good: This is a really entertaining and original idea for an episode. Instead of having the characters look stupid for believing each others’ bad acting; they give them the perfect excuse to play along. The scenes with Phoebe and Chandler trying to seduce each other are really funny and they grip your attention as you wait for the next twist. Joey does a great job as the straight man to the silliness evolving around him. Ross’ story is also very satisfying, first with him getting naked and then discovering that Chandler and Monica are a couple. It was the right time to out them as a couple and this is a clever way to make that happen.

The Bad: The odd thing here and there is not ideal. Chandler being made to look like he couldn’t pick up a woman to save his life (we have seen him do fine in earlier seasons) for example but really this is a well written and funny episode.

Best Line: (Ra) “Joey look, just look at it this way, the sooner that Phoebe breaks Chandler the sooner this is all over and out in the open.”
(J) “Oohh I like that. Ok, show him your bra, he’s afraid of bras, can’t work em.” (J flicks open Ps top)
(P) “Joey! Wow, you didn’t rip off any buttons.”
(J) “Not my first time.”

Best Friend: Phoebe
