Episode 9 - TOW They're Going to party!

29 March 2012

Synopsis: The guys plan on partying with their old friend Gandalf. Monica is offered a job as a chef, just as she starts her catering business with Phoebe and Rachel tries to get a promotion.

The Good: This is a decent character episode. The guys feeling their age is a really good story as is Monica getting what she really wants despite it hurting Phoebe.

The Bad: But neither plot is very funny. They both involve lots of talking and no comedy scenes. There is nothing wrong with Rachel’s story either expect that Joanna trying to sabotage her isn’t realistically presented. Then they introduce a “classic” sit com story of having Joanna die before she can promote Rachel. That should be a really funny or tragic story but it is neither. It’s completely unnecessary; especially as a few episodes later she gets a similar job.

Best Line: (Ro) “And so what if I like to go home, throw on some Kenny G and take a bath?”
(J) “We’re 29, we’re not women!”

Best Friend: Rachel
