Episode 22 - TOW The Screamer

29 March 2012

Synopsis: Joey’s play debuts and the reviews are awful. Rachel starts dating Tommy (Ben Stiller) who has a violent temper that only Ross sees. Meanwhile Phoebe is stuck on the phone waiting in a queue for over 24 hours.

The Good: Phoebe trying to put on a jumper while also staying on the phone is funny. Ross is very funny trying to catch Tommy out and make him angry in front of others. Joey shows his sweet side with Kate.

The Bad: This has lots of jokes which don’t work. Joey’s spaceship play is surreal, the director is completely over the top, Phoebe on the phone is dull and then there is Ben Stiller. I suppose some people find him funny but here shouting and screaming doesn’t work. What’s worse is that we have to sit though the others assuming Ross is making it up – shouldn’t they have more faith in their friend? Then at the end of the episode Kate leaves for good. Why did we invest time into getting to know her character to see her disappear like this? And you know next episode Joey will be back to normal. Poor writing throughout.

Best Line: (Jo in the play) “So I’m going to get on this spaceship. And I’m going to go to Blargon 7 in search of alternative fuels. But when I return 200 years from now, you’ll be long gone, but I won’t have aged at all. So you tell your great great granddaughter to look me up because Adrian, baby, I’m gonna wanna meet her.”

Best Friend: Ross
