Lois Griffin asks her husband Peter not to get drunk at a bachelor party but he does. It ends up costing him his job and he doesn’t want her to know. So he signs on for welfare and mistakenly receives cheques worth $150,000 a week. Brian the dog talks Peter into giving the money back and Peter is arrested when he crashes a blimp into the Super Bowl. Meanwhile patricidal baby Stewie has been trying to kill Lois in order to get his mind control device back. Once in court Peter is sentenced to two years in prison but Stewie uses the device to change the judge’s mind.

Peter takes a break from watching TV to teach Meg how to drive. Unfortunately his useless teaching doesn’t help her and on the way home from her test he crashes into Quahog’s cable TV transmitter. Meg agrees to take the blame while Peter realises he is addicted to TV and goes through withdrawal. Meanwhile Stewie tries to change the weather in order to destroy all broccoli. When Stewie creates a great storm, Meg accidentally crashes into Peter and William Shatner. While convalescing Peter is forced to watch nothing but TV.

It’s Stewie’s first birthday and Lois wants to have a big birthday party. Peter messes up her reservation and has to go to extreme lengths to reorganise. Stewie comes to believe that the doctor who attended his delivery is going to try and return him to the womb. Meg makes a new friend and wants to miss Stewie’s party to spend time with her.

Peter is increasingly neglectful of Lois and his family. He gets drunk at one of Chris’ soccer games and hits a pregnant woman. He is put under house arrest and gets deeply bored. He decides to build a bar in the basement to encourage the guys to come and hang out with him. Just as Lois is about to scream at him, he manages to convince her to play piano and sing. But once she does all the guys come to the bar to see her and not Peter. Meanwhile Stewie builds a time machine in order to rush through his teething pains. He uses it to reverse time and prevent the house from burning down.

Joe is the star of the game and the life of the party even though he is handicapped. Peter’s resentment grows deeper so he decides to interrupt a bank robbery to prove he can be a hero too. Meanwhile Stewie sees Jo’s wheelchair as a means to escape Lois’ clutches and Meg becomes attracted to Joe’s son Kevin.

Chris wants to quit the scouts but Peter won’t listen and insists on helping him stay in. On the drive to Scout head quarters in New York the Griffins stop at an Indian Casino. Lois quickly develops a gambling habit and loses their car. Peter pretends to be a Native American in order to recover it. The casino owners insist he go on a Vision Quest in the neighbouring forest to prove himself. He takes Chris with him and learns to listen, finally understanding that Chris would rather draw than be in the scouts.

Quahog is suffering through a heat wave and Peter can’t afford a new air conditioner. He asks Brian to enter a dog show in order to win them the money. Brian grudgingly agrees but feels demeaned by behaving like a dog. He and Peter fall out over the competition and Brian ends up back where he started, on the streets. Lois talks Peter into taking him back but Brian is arrested and sentenced to death for biting people. Peter steps up and defends him.
