Jeff doesn't want Pierce to return to the group. He suggests that they have evolved beyond being a study group but when he is kicked out of Biology his statement is put to the test. Dean Pelton tries to flex his muscles with the air conditioner insturction annex and is put firmly in his place.
Annie starts to feel competitive when another Annie begins to outshine her in class. The two Annie's host competing model UNs and Jeff rushes to help out. Meanwhile Britta is worried about not protesting anymore just as Chang feels like his security guard role is devoid of actual authority.
The study group refuse to partner up with new people but can't work with one another. They bicker incessantly over their first assignment and reduce their one new partner Todd to misery. Meanwhile Chang fancies himself a detective more than a security guard and begins to investigate a suspicious book of matches.
Abed and Troy have moved in together and have a house warming party. The gang arrives and when the pizza delivery guy buzzes Jeff roles a dice to see who should go let him in. Abed warns that this will create six different timelines and we watch them each unfold.
Britta is worried when some psych evaluations the group filled out reveal that one of them is a sociopath. She tells a scary story to try and see whose reaction will reveal something important. Instead each member of the group tells a horror story reflecting their own personalities.
Once more Troy examines his inate plumbing skills. He is soon kidnapped by the Air Conditioning school and offered a chance to join them. Pierce is suddenly embraced by the gay community after his wipes become immortalised in a music video. He decides to capitalise on this but his Father arrives to stop him.
The gang are helping Annie move but Jeff is out shopping and pretending to be ill. Dean Pelton stalks him there and blackmails him into lunch and a little karaoke. Abed and Troy have misled Annie about the availability of a room. Pierce tries to fix a few problems in Annie's old apartment and Britta and Shirley pick up a hitchhiker.
The Dean is asked to film a new commercial for Greendale and Abed decides to make a documentary about it. When Luiz Guzman volunteers to be in the commercial the Dean goes mad with ideas about how to make the perfect piece. He drives the various members of the study group crazy until he is alone on campus.
Abed is excited at his new signed Dark Knight DVD. Annie accidentally breaks it and pretends that the apartment has been robbed. Abed becomes Bat Man to discover the truth. Jeff admits to his frustration over some German students dominating the foosball table. Shirley is a brilliant player and Jeff begs her to help teach him how to play well.
The Greendale Glee club self destructs spectacularly in the canteen. Their coach Mr Rad tries to recruit the study group as they had filled in once before. They refuse but Abed is tempted by the thought of a happy Christmas activity. Slowly the whole group is seduced by the singing power of Glee.
Andre proposes to Shirley for a re-marriage. Britta suggests that Shirley and Pierce open a sandwich shop in the caffeteria. Britta plans the wedding rehearsal and discovers that she has an aptitude for it. Jeff struggles to come up with a wedding toast. Abed and Troy try to be normal for the wedding.
Jeff's new anxiety drugs feed his confidence to unhealthy levels. Britta warns him that he might explode if he doesn't stay humble. Abed has been hiring celebrity impersonators to re-enact movie scenes with him. When he gets into debt Troy asks everyone to help bail him out. Greendale's budget is so stretched that Chang is forced to give away college credits to recruit more security guards.
Jeff discovers that he has a locker and is disturbed to find a note from a dead student inside. Pierce and Shirley scheme to take down the new Subway. That Subway now has a human form who Britta begins to fall for. Abed begins building a pillow fort but Troy wants to construct another blanket fort to get in the Guinness Book of Records.
Greendale productions presents a documentary about the great war between Troy's blanket fort and Abed's pillow fort. The study group takes sides, Annie sets up a field hospital and scolds Jeff for encouraging the chaos to get out of studying.
The circus is in town and Britta admits that she had an affair with one of the carnival workers named Blade. Her attraction to him is so intense that she asks Annie to treat her like a junkie and hide her phone. She then gets her phone back and immediately begins texting Blade. Meanwhile Jeff and Shirley go to the carnival to see what Blade is like. Pierce and Chang are there forming a new friendship.
During a long lunch break from studying Annie offers to take Troy's place in the Dreamatorium so that Britta and Troy can be alone. Abed is annoyed and explains exactly how the date will go wrong. Annie fires back and Abed tries to prove he is right by forcing Annie to play along with various simulations as he does impressions of their friends.
A "Law and Order" parody. When the group's Yam biology project is destroyed they begin to investigate the crime. Troy and Abed track down suspects and believe Todd is responsible. Jeff and Annie build a case against him.
The death of Star Burns leads to much discussion in the study room. The Dean then announces that Professor Kane has quit and that everyone will be getting an 'Incomplete' in Biology. At Star Burns' wake Jeff leads the group in denouncing Greendale as a school. A riot breaks out and Chang brutally restores order. The Dean agrees to blame Chang for the disorder but Chang is one step ahead.
It’s been two months since they were expelled from Greendale but the study group are still together. Abed keeps getting caught by the police snooping around campus. The Dean offers to pay for a session with a psychiatrist but the whole group goes with him. The Doctor suggests that Greendale doesn’t exist and that the group are suffering a group hallucination.
The study group are lured out to a warehouse by the executor of Pierce’s father’s estate. Mr Hawthorne built a computer game which Pierce has to win in order to claim his inheritance. Mr Hawthorne’s assistant Gilbert (Giancarlo Esposito) also plays and soon reveals that he is intent on winning.
The police won’t listen to the study group about the replacement Dean. Chang makes plans for his birthday and the group plan a heist to free the Dean. The heist goes wrong on purpose and then not on purpose as Chang foils their escape. Troy now agrees to join the air conditioning repair programme in exchange for their help in escaping Chang’s clutches.
Troy takes his place in class at the air conditioner repair school. Vice Dean Laybourne thinks that he is the prophesised “True Repairman.” Laybourne then dies in an accident and Troy smells foul play. He challenges Laybourne’s successor to a dual in the “Sun Chamber.” Subway’s contract runs out and the Dean says he will let Shirley and Pierce run their sandwich shop instead. They bicker over who will sign the contract and the Dean has to arbitrate. Jeff is trying to concentrate on the biology final but agrees to represent Shirley. Abed has been out of sorts since Troy left and asks Britta to give him a therapy session. Evil Abed appears and suggests that he talk to Britta instead.
