30 Rock is a comedy about "TGS with Tracy Jordan" a sketch show (based on Saturday Night Live) run out of 30 Rockefeller Centre in New York. Head writer Liz Lemon has to deal with temperamental stars Tracy Jordan and Jenna Maroney while also appeasing her boss Jack Donaghy. NBC 2006-???

Jack has spent the summer pitching new shows. Having discovered the success of Seinfeld, he decides to digitally insert Jerry Seinfeld into episodes of current NBC shows. When Jerry finds out he comes to NBC and he is not happy. Liz broke up with Floyd over the summer and is clearly not over it yet. Tracy's wife kicks him out and so Liz appoints Kenneth to be his "office wife."

Jack thinks Don Geiss is going to retire and is hoping of taking his job. His rival Devon Banks is also in town, engaged to Geiss’ daughter and he soon discovers about Jack’s heart attack. The two go head to head at Geiss’ house and attempt to one-up each other. Liz attempts to get her life in order while also fighting the corner of women’s figures as Jenna prepares to undergo surgery to lose weight. Meanwhile Kenneth tries to make Tracy jealous so that he will get back together with his wife.

Because Jack is being considered for the GE Chairmanship he hires a private investigator (Steve Buscemi) to find the skeletons in his closet. The result is that Jack has to give up his cookie jar collection. Jenna is so happy with her new popularity that she stops overeating. Tracy’s wife Angie interferes so much with TGS that Liz has to throw her out.

Liz brings in her idol, Rosemary Howard to be a guest writer on TGS. But her controversial ideas don’t go down well with Jack and he fires both her and Liz. When Liz sees what she might become in the future she rushes back to NBC and gets her job back. Jack tells Tracy the one thing he can’t do is dog fighting and so Tracy has to do it. At the root of it all seems to be Tracy’s relationship with his father, so Jack takes him to therapy. Jenna accidentally burns Kenneth’s page jacket which leads him into conflict with the head page Donnie.

Don Geiss (head of GE, the company which owns NBC Universal) pits his department heads against one another to see who can make the most money from the environmentalist “fad.” So Jack hires an out of work actor (David Schwimmer) to play Greenzo, an environmental activist who will push GE technology as the solution to global warming. Meanwhile Kenneth is inviting everyone to a party at his house but Liz knows no one will go. So Tracy decides to start rumours about it so that people will want to go.
